John Wooltor’s Showroom and warehouse for Blackstones, 44 Broad Street, built 1913
The building at 44 Broad Street in Stamford, Lincolnshire, originally constructed in 1913, was built as the highly innovative showroom and warehouse for Blackstone & Co., which grew to become Stamford's largest employer. In later years the building was converted into a cinema. Following a destructive fire in 1932, it was rebuilt in a striking Art Deco style. In 1994 the building was used as a popular nightclub.
